Samantha Locock
Samantha Locock is a young and upcoming writer whose main focus is to put underrepresented stories on the screen as she feels this will help to normalise them and start conversations. These topics include exploring queer identity, mental health, disability and social issues, such as climate change.
Locock takes inspiration from Greta Gerwig, Joanna Hogg and Andrea Arnold, mixing realism with teenage fantasy. It’s key in her writing to build up characters in a way that allows the audience to form an attachment to them, allowing the emotions to flow from the screen to the viewer. Her previous work ‘Woman of your Dreams’ was shot in December 2019 and starred Rebecca Stone and Georgia Hirst (Vikings). It was an official selection in several small international film festivals.
