Mark Daniels

Mark tries to write scripts that tackle bigger topics through everyday, human stories – with a few laughs thrown in for good measure. Class and LGBT+ themes feature heavily. He’s had three full-length pieces produced on the London fringe theatre scene: Tinderella (Canal Café Theatre), N89 (Matchstick Theatre) and The Institute of Nuts (Matchstick Theatre). He’s also had short plays produced at many London venues, including The Vaults, Theatre503, The Drayton Arms and The Brockley Jack. He’s a long-term collaborator with sketch show Newsrevue and writes for their London and Edinburgh shows. His latest play, Single Ticket, was recently shortlisted for the prestigious Bruntwood Theatre Prize and he’s currently Writer in Residence at Broken Silence Theatre Company.

Away from theatre, Mark has credits on BBC Radio 4 sketch show, Newsjack and has been commissioned to write in their writer’s room. He reached the BAFTA Rocliffe final with his sitcom script, Straight Faced. His short film, The Exam Board was selected for several festivals and won Best Comedy at the Sunderland Short Film Festival. He collaborates as a writer on several YouTube channels, which has included him writing for some well-known comedians, such as Zoe Lyons, Joel Dommett, Ninia Benjamin and Steve N Allen.
