Gemma Lawrence
Gemma Lawrence is a writer and actor. Her play Sunnymead Court followed two women who fell in love from the safety of their balconies during London's first lockdown. It looked at the chance encounter between two queer women, sixty years apart in age, and starred Patsy Ferran. Her play ‘straight vodka’ looked at our changing perception of consent and was performed as part of Theatre503’s Rapid Write Response to Gill Greer’s **MEAT. ‘Ribbons’ explored queerness and parenthood and premiered at Bloom Theatre’s queer theatre night **SAPLINGS. **REWILD looked at the climate crisis and the need for radical hope. It is now being developed into a full-length play as part of the London Playwrights 2020 Scheme. As an actor, theatre work includes As You Like It at the National Theatre, the premiere of Mike Bartlett's Not Talking, Kae Tempest's Wasted at the Orange Tree Theatre and Much Ado About Nothing at Shakespeare's Globe.
